AT&T Discovery District
The Challenge
AT&T built the AT&T Discovery District®, a new downtown Dallas destination where tech, culture and entertainment combine to create unique experiences.
It was our job to work closely with their brand team and stakeholders to create an experience online that reflected the unique real-world experience.
The goal was to make the site feel alive with custom animation, experimental typefaces, and living gradients while being easy-to-navigate between events and restaurants.
The homepage was designed to quickly inform the reader about what AT&T Discovery District has to offer — events, movies, shopping, innovative new technology, and a food court right in the heart of Downtown Dallas.
Dynamic Day/Night Themes
Throughout the day and night, AT&T Discovery District transforms around the clock changing its color schemes to be “upbeat and lively” during the day, and “dark and moody” during the evening.
We created a dynamic theming and visual system that evolved depending on the current time of day in Dallas, Texas.
An example of the homepage’s “dark and moody” theme.
Events and experiences widely varied, and it was our job to create an experience that was easy to digest and incorporated AT&T’s reactive living gradients.
Custom animation was created to make the site feel “theatrical” and “dramatic” to align with the brand’s tone and voice across all interactive elements.
We created a food court directory with evergreen pages for each establishment paired with delicious food/drink photography.
Each establishment had a customized and curated evergreen page that was more than “just a menu.”
Interactive states and flows played a big part in this site’s custom event system.
In addition, ADA Compliance remained a fun challenge utilizing our living gradients and more complex interactions.
The AT&T Discovery District is made possible through some of the world’s most leading-edge technology, so brace yourself for a multi-sensory experience.
